Banda ancha en Colombia Ahora es de 25Mbps

A partir del 1 de enero del 2019, las conexiones que se comercialicen como Banda Ancha deberán garantizar Velocidades efectivas de acceso de 25 megabytes por segundo (Mbps) de bajada y de 5 Mbps subida .

La definición de Banda Ancha en Colombia cambia radicalmente a partir de este año, así lo determinó la Resolución 5161 de 2017 de la Comisión de Regulación de Comunicaciones (CRC): “por la cual se establecen las definiciones y condiciones regulatorias de banda ancha en el país, y se dictan otras disposiciones ”.

Con lo anterior se modifica la velocidad de 1 Mbps de bajada y 512 Kbps de subida que anteriormente se consideraba como banda ancha según el Título I de la Resolución CRC 5050 de 2016.

“Banda ancha: Es la capacidad de transmisión cuyo ancho de banda es suficiente para permitir, de manera combinada, la provisión de voz, datos y video, ya sea de manera alámbrica o inalámbrica.”

RESOLUCIÓN 5161 DE 2017 – ARTÍCULO 1o.

Entre las otras disposiciones a las que se hace referencia:

  • Se entenderá como ULTRA BANDA ANCHA aquellos servicios/ofertas comerciales que tengan como mínimo velocidades de bajada de 50 Mbps y de subida de 20 Mbps.
  • Los Proveedores de Redes y Servicios de Telecomunicaciones (PRST) deberán informar en la factura sobre el valor mensual correspondiente al servicio de datos contratado, la velocidad contratada -en bajada y subida- (indicando si corresponde a Banda Ancha).

Vale la pena aclarar que los operadores del servicios pueden seguir ofreciendo planes de menos de 25 Mbps, siempre y cuando estos No sean publicitados como banda ancha ya que no cumplen con los requisitos para uso de esta Definición. Tampoco se modifican los contratos firmados antes del primero de enero 2019.
